In my career, I have painted thousands of wildlife paintings. With our recent move to Cody WYOMING, I have embarked on the newest and most significant aspect of my career. On this site I will be presenting Acrylic and Oil paintings, in a realistic, accurately researched style. As I progress, you will be able to follow along as I develop more and more significant paintings.
"Six Pack" the grey wolves appear first as a specter, slowly materializing. Oil on board. 20in x 48in collection of the artist. [it hangs over my TV]

"Trail Boss" is an acrylic painting measuring 30" x 40" on gallery wrapped canvas.
This is the largest painting I have ever done. I wanted to create a piece that had the same impact that the grizzly occupies in our western psyche.
Guaranteed to be noticed.
In a sense, Saw Whet Owls are responsible for my career as a wildlife artist. Creating an indelible impression on a young boy helping his photographer father relocate these owls to a lower vantage point, they became a touchstone in my life. In every media in which I have worked, I have portrayed these owls. "Courtship" is painted on a wraparound panel, designed to be displayed either on the wall a shelf or free standing
Spring is a long time coming in Wyoming, and meadowlarks are a most welcome sight.
All winter, a reliable visitor is the Junco Shown here in detail
Another all winter bird , a reliable visitor changes to a beautiful golden yellow in the spring, then disappears for the summer
When I paint a wolf on an easel, my dog Koda watches intently, when other subject matter presents itself, he's seemingly disinterested. We'll see what happens if I paint a cat.
the Ghost of the Night, a Barn Owl spells the end of a farmers mouse problem
The instant that the outcome is uncertain between predator and prey and becomes frozen in time has always fascinated me and has been the subject of many of my paintings
